Synperonic
The Synperonic versatile nonionic surfactants brand encompasses three classes of nonionic surfactant, which together offer an extensive toolkit for tackling formulation challenges.
These alkyl phenol ethoxylate (APE) free surfactants are designed to function as sole surfactants or in combination to deliver effects ranging from resin emulsification to substrate wetting and defoaming.

Synperonic PE block copolymer surfactants
The Synperonic PE series consists of linear ABA block polymers of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO); known in some segments as poloxamers. Variations in overall molecular weight and proportion between hydrophilic polyethylene oxide segment and hydrophobic polypropylene oxide segments allows tailoring of the surfactant for specific end applications, such as defoamer, low foam wetting agent, stabiliser in emulsion polymerisation or as a resin emulsifier. High molecular weight ensures compatibility with resins including epoxy and polyesters for coatings and fiber sizing.
Performance benefits
- High affinity surfactants
- Low foaming
- Enhanced steric stabilisation
- Not classified as hazardous substance (EC No 1272/2008)
The properties of any member of the Synperonic PE series can be accurately predicted using the selection grid in our Synperonic brochure for a given set of desired properties. Last digit refers to % of PEO on total MW and the first digit(s) refer(s) to the molecular weight of PPO.

Synperonic T – Star shaped alkoxylates
The Synperonic T series are 4-functional block copolymers, or polyether polyols of EO and PO which offer unique properties.
These may be used as building blocks for crosslinked polymers or used as an emulsifying or dispersing additive for adhesives, coatings and inks

Alkylphenol ethoxylate replacement
The remainder of the Synperonic brand includes oligomeric non-ionic surfactants which are synthetic fatty alcohol alkoxylates. These are highly efficient surfactants and recommended for direct replacement of nonyl phenol ethoxylates (NPEs) of similar HLB. These NPE free surfactants are commonly used in emulsion poymerisation and other emulsification process and to address wetting needs for coatings, inks, and adhesives.
Applications and benefits
- Improve emulsification cycle times and excellent stability
- Highly effective wetting capabilities
- Very good pigment wetting properties
- Enhance freeze/thaw and electrolyte tolerance
